Ivan Weiss (1946- ) is an important Danish ceramist, who was trained as a painter at the legendary Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory, where he worked from 1972- 2003. Highly inspired by Japanese ceramic art and Chinese porcelain, Ivan Weiss is internationally acclaimed for his strong, yet delicate calligraphic vocabulary, his large-scale pieces and extraordinary colors.

His unique pieces are characterized by a combination of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese heritage united by a strong contemporary dimension. His works have been exhibited in museums worldwide and are included in the permanent collections of many museums such as the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York; The International Museum of Ceramics, Faenza, Italy; Dordrecht Museum, Holland; Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam, Holland; Museum of Decorative Arts, Copenhagen; The Pennsylvania State University Museum of Art; Trapholt Museum, Kolding, Denmark; National Museum, Stockholm, Sweden, The Carmignac Foundation, France.
