Gjertrud Hals at the Centre Pompidou, Metz

Galerie Maria Wettergren is pleased to inform you that Gjertrud Hals’ wall sculpture Vena Cuprum is currently exhibited at the Centre Pompidou, Metz as part of the group show « Mimesis. Un design vivant » through 6 February 2023. The group exhibition brings together 400 works by the great designers of modernity to explore the evolution of nature and science in design and art.

Vena Cuprum is inspired by organic principles where the living and the non-living can interract with one another. The wall sculpture is entirely handmade by the artist and conceived from an animistic perspective, where beings and things are attributed a human soul. Vena Cuprum – Latin for copper veins – is, according to the artist « to be considered as a structure or membrane, like a web – an organic network of thought and emotion. »
