Galerie Maria Wettergren is delighted to announce the acquisition by KUBE Art Museum, Norway of 12 works – Frå Tindfjell til Kyoto – by Gjertrud Hals.

Series of 24 works two-dimensional pictures using maps, signs and traditional paper techniques

The Frå Tindfjell til Kyoto -series was made twenty years ago, and was part of the From Tindfjell to Kyoto, 2002 at the Trondheim Museum of Art. Using maps and signs, the artist tried to give a visual form to the sacred aspect of life. In many ways they gathered the threads from her previous works, both in terms of form and content, and they pointed to the future.

KUBE is the art museum of Møre og Romsdal, and is located in the city’s old bank building (1906) in Ålesund centre. Through a varied exhibition program and a range of public activities, the museum aims to create interest in and knowledge of visual art, crafts, design and architecture. KUBE develops and manages an art collection with a special focus on art and artists related to the area.
