Germans Ermičs wields light, space, and color to catalyze a shift in how we perceive objects. For the past few years, he has crafted refined and ethereal pieces of glass furniture. Because of the utilitarian functions of glass, we rarely pay it any mind, as we encounter it daily. But in Ermičs’s designs, glass becomes the stage for exquisite color treatments: it can be soft and frosted to blur the edges of form; ombré, to gently draw your eye across the surface; or mirrored, to reflect and manipulate the space you occupy.

Biography
Germans Ermičs
Germans Ermičs studied design in Denmark and went on an internship at the prestigious Rasmus Koch Studio in Copenhagen where he developed his skills in graphic design. In 2007, he co-founded the Latvian culture magazine Veto, serving as art director. At the same time he began studying at the Design Academy Eindhoven, in the department Man & Living, where his primary focus was on furniture and interiors. Prior to his graduation in 2011 he completed an internship at Studio Robert Stadler in Paris. During the next two years he was working on diverse interior and graphic design projects for both Dutch and international clients. In September 2014 he started his own studio in Amsterdam.
 
He often employs his graphic design background to add a new and fresh approach to design and enjoy experimenting with different materials and perceptions of space.
 

Germans Ermičs was honored by Wallpaper* Design Awards in both 2017 and 2018. Notable works and collaborations include the glass pavillion «Where The Rainbow Ends» with Instagram for Cannes Lions (2019); «The Circle of Fifth» with Bang & Olufsen for Wallpaper (2019); «Presence-Absence» with Iskos Berlin for Galerie Maria Wettergren (2018) and Rossana Orlandi. His works have been exhibited in museums such as Toyama Museum of Art & Design and Designmuseum Danmark, and his works are regularly shown at international fairs such as Design Miami/ Basel, The Salon/Park Avenue Armory Show NY; Salone di Mobile, Milano and PAD London & Paris.
